Lessons from activities carried out in Angoche, Moma, Montepuez and Palma between July and September 2026
Activities conducted by CDD and its partner organisations show that schools can introduce young people to the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (NAPBHR 2025–2029), while community dialogues bring forward concerns about employment, public services, the impacts of mining and corporate responsibility.
Three school-based sessions in Moma and Montepuez reached 269 young people and students. This demonstrates the reach of the activities, but participation figures alone cannot show whether young people have influenced decisions affecting their communities.
This policy brief proposes a practical way forward: document concerns, refer them to the responsible institutions, provide feedback to communities and verify whether commitments have been fulfilled. It also calls for safe and inclusive participation, including for out-of-school youth, girls and young women, and persons with disabilities.
