For Mozambique, this means recognising that peace cannot be truly sustainable while victims remain without truth, justice, reparation and guarantees of non-recurrence. Confronting the past does not mean remaining trapped in it. It means recognising the dignity of those affected, rebuilding trust in institutions and addressing the conditions that allow violence to recur.
